Starting WebSphere Commerce test servers
The WebSphere Commerce test server consists of two parts: a WebSphere Application Server profile, and a test server within Rational Application Developer. The WebSphere Application Server profile is configured when the development environment is installed. The test server is configured within the Rational Application Developer workspace. This configuration, accessible in the servers view, connects the workspace to the WebSphere Application Server profile that is specific to a particular installation of the development environment.

Use the command line to start your test server outside of Rational Application Developer. Starting it with the command line reduces the system resources used and might result in better performance.
