Install Sales Center maintenance using Tivoli Configuration Manager

Use the Tivoli Configuration Manager client to push the Sales Center maintenance package from removable media or a local disk out to the Sales Center client machines. You need to give Tivoli instructions to push the maintenance package, and then run a silent install on the client machines.


Before you begin


Procedure

  1. Choose and obtain the maintenance update that to apply. The process and steps to install interim fixes and fix packs are the same. When installing an interim fix, you likely have obtained the fix from IBM Support. Available fix packs for WebSphere Commerce V7 Sales Center are listed on the Fix packs for WebSphere Commerce technote.

  2. Open Tivoli Desktop and log in.

  3. Open the appropriate Tivoli region.

  4. Click Create > ProfileManager. Give the Profile Manager a meaningful name, such as SalesCenterInstall.

  5. Click Create > Profile. Give the profile a meaningful name.

  6. Set the subscriptions for the profile. Refer to the Tivoli documentation for more details on subscriptions.

  7. Click Launch Software Package Editor.

  8. In the Software Package Editor Selector panel, select Generic Software Package.

  9. In the left hand navigation panel, select the profile. Right click the package icon and select Add Object > Directory.

  10. Click Advanced.

  11. On the Add System Objects Properties panel, select Create directories, Remove empty directories, and Descend directories. Click OK.

  12. Provide location and name for the Source (the location of the Sales Center client install package) and Destination (a directory of the choice on the client machine). Click OK.

  13. Right-click the package icon and select Insert > Program > Execute program.

  14. On the Execute Program Properties dialog, on the Install tab, provide the path to silentsetup.exe on the client machine.

  15. Click Advanced. In the Arguments field, enter -silent -options responsefile_full_path, where responsefile_full_path is the full path to responsefile.txt on the client machine. Click OK.

  16. Click OK again on the Execute Program Properties panel.

  17. Click File > Save to save the software package edition.

  18. Click File > Return.

  19. In the Profile Manager, right-click the profile and select Convert.

  20. On the Convert Software Package panel, confirm the name of the software package and click Convert and Close.

  21. In the Profile Manager, right-click the profile and select Install.
