Remove a cluster member
Changes to the WebSphere Commerce typology might require the removal of a cluster member. Verify these steps are followed to successfully complete the removal.
Remove a cluster member from an existing cluster deletes the associated application server.
Procedure
- If they are not started, start the node agent on each node in the cluster.
Ensure that you start the node agent on each node as the non-root user.
- On the WAS ND machine, start the deployment manager profile.
- Open the WAS ND Administrative Console. For instructions, refer to: Launching the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console.
- Stop the cluster members.
To stop the cluster members...
- In the Navigation area expand Servers and click Clusters.
- Expand cluster_Name and click Cluster Member.
- On the Cluster Member page, select the member and click Stop.
- In the Navigation area, expand Servers and click Clusters.
- From the list of clusters, click the cluster for which to change the membership.
- Under Additional Properties, click Cluster members.
- Select the cluster members to remove from the cluster and click Delete.
If you plan to remove the original cluster member, you should do so manually by deleting the WebSphere Application Server profile associated with it.
- Click Save in the Administrative Console task bar.
- Click Review to save the configuration.
- On the Save page, select Synchronize changes with Nodes.
- On the Save page, click Save. While the nodes are being synchronized, the status of these nodes will be displayed in administrative console. Once the synchronization is finished, click OK.
- Log out of the WAS Administrative Console.
- Regenerate the Web server plug-in and copy the plug-in to the Web server.
