Troubleshoot: Error when using the Update Installer

If you encounter an error when installing a WebSphere Commerce fix pack or APAR, review this information.


Problem

Use the Update Installer downloaded from the WebSphere Commerce Support Web site to apply the WebSphere Commerce vmaintenance.

To apply any maintenance for WebSphere Application Server, use the Update Installer provided from the WebSphere Application Server Support Web site.

Attempting to use the WebSphere Application Server Update Installer to apply WebSphere Commerce maintenance results in the following error message:

CWUPDI0012E: A supported product could not be detected at the specified location


Solution

Reapply the maintenance package using the WebSphere Commerce Update Installer that is available from the WebSphere Commerce Update Installer download page.


Problem

When using the WebSphere Commerce Update Installer to install fix package on the WebSphere Commerce Server, you see the following message:

Failed to export the WCS instance to
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\wcupdate directory.
For more information, see the log file: "C:\IBM\WebSphere\CommerceServer70\logs\update\actions\install\exportear_WC_demo.log".


Solution

If the exportear_WC_demo.log file does not exist, try the following steps:

  1. In a text editor, open the WC_INSTALL/bin/setenv.bat file.

  2. Append \jre to SET JAVA_HOME=WAS_installDir\java. For example,

    SET JAVA_HOME=C:\IBM\WEBSPH~1\APPSER~1\java\jre
    

  3. Save and close the file.

  4. Install the fix package again.
