Quick install overview
Quick installation is an appropriate method for installing WebSphere Commerce on a single machine, using the packaged software stack.
Quick install
The quick installation completes the following tasks:
- Installs DB2 Database Express Edition v9.5.4
- Installs IBM HTTP Server v7.0
- Installs WAS Express Edition v7.0.0.3
- Installs Web server plug-ins for WAS v7.0.
- Installs WebSphere Commerce
- Creates a WCS instance named demo.
- Installs DB2 Database Enterprise Edition v9.5.4
- Installs IBM HTTP Server v7.0
- Installs WAS Network Deployment v7.0.0.3
- Installs Web server plug-ins for WAS v7.0.
- Installs WebSphere Commerce
- Creates a WCS instance named demo.
If you are using a 64–bit Windows operating system, you still need to install the 32–bit edition of DB2, because WebSphere Commerce runs on 32-bit JVM.
A quick installation fails if any of the following products are detected on the system:
- Any edition of DB2 v9.5
- Any edition of WAS v7.0.
- Any version of IBM HTTP Server
- Microsoft IIS is running.
- Any WebSphere Commerce v7.0 components.
- Any previous version of WebSphere Commerce.
Do not use a quick installation if any of the following statements applies to the WebSphere Commerce installation:
- The database is Oracle.
- I want to use an existing installation of DB2 as the WebSphere Commerce database.
- I want to use Microsoft IIS as the WebSphere Commerce Web server.
- I want to use Sun Web Server as the WebSphere Commerce Web server.
- I want to use an existing installation of IBM HTTP Server as the WebSphere Commerce Web server.
- I want to use an existing installation of WAS for my WebSphere Commerce installation.
If any of these statements apply to the WebSphere Commerce configuration, use the custom installation.
Web server plug-ins for WAS v7.0 and IBM HTTP Server v7.0 are installed under the non-root user.
WAS administrative security
During installation of WAS, administrative security is enabled by default in the newly created WebSphere Commerce profile. The default user ID and password are the same as the credentials for the WebSphere Commerce configuration manager. When enabled, use these credentials for administrative tasks such as logging on to the WAS administrative console, and starting and stopping the WAS. If WAS sample code is installed, the same password needs to be used to access the sample applications.
Administrative security is not enabled for WebSphere Test Environment in WebSphere Commerce Developer.
