(troubleshooting)
Web activities are not shown according to their priority at an e-marketing spot
Problem(Abstract)
Your web activities are not shown according to their priority at an e-Marketing Spot in WebSphere Commerce. Specifically, the Web activities are shown in reverse order. For example, activity with lowest priority shows more often than that with higher priority.
Symptom
Cause This is a known defect in WebSphere Commerce. Resolving the problem This problem (APAR JR28093) is resolved in WebSphere Commerce 6.0 Fix Pack 6 (6.0.0.6) or newer. You can obtain Fix Pack 6 or newer from the WebSphere Commerce Fixes by version page..

Install the APAR should give you the desirable outcome of priority-based Web activities which behave as follows:

The objective of this scenario is to prioritize conflicting Web activities in the same e-Marketing Spot . The number of times a particular Web activity will be displayed in the e-Marketing Spot will be determined by it's priority, when there are more than one Web activity in the same e-Marketing Spot.

An example for the scenario is as follows:

Consider, you have 3 Web activities a, b and c which have priorities 1,7 and 10 respectively. Then,

convert priority to weight based priority sequence:
WebActivity a=3
WebActivity b=2
WebActivity c=1

The change to display will be
WebActivity a: 50%
WebActivity b: 33%
WebActivity c: 17%

That is, if you run the test case ten times then five or six times the highest priority Web activity will be displayed, followed by second highest (two or three times) which will be followed by the third one (one or two times). Since it is calculated as the percentage there will be a small deviation of +/- 1.
