(FAQ)
XHTML compliance in WebSphere Commerce ConsumerDirect sample store JSP pages
Problem
Many different types of errors can cause non-compliant XHTML. A common scenario is an element tag that is not properly closed according to XHTML specifications, resulting in open HTML elements.

For example:

<meta name="description" content="Visit the largest online retail store of apparel. Shop the wide selection in activewears, jeans, pants, shorts and accessories for men and women.">

There should be a "/>" instead of a ">" at the end of the line.

Other errors can be detected by running the code from storefront JSP pages through an HTML validator.
Cause
By default, JSP pages in the WebSphere Commerce ConsumerDirect sample store are not valid XHTML 1.0 transitional files.
