Configuration Manager client cannot connect to remote server through firewall
Problem(Abstract)
Your WebSphere Commerce Configuration Manager client process (configClient.sh) cannot connect to the Configuration Manager server process (config_server.sh) despite the firewall being opened on the port specified in the connection.
Cause The Configuration Manager uses the RMI protocol for communication between it's client and server. In the case of a remote connection from the client and the server, a firewall may be in between the two processes. The "-port" parameter used in the configClient.sh and config_server.sh is used only for the initial connection. Subsequently, the RMI protocol is used and arbitrary ports, which cannot be preset or predetermined, are used for communication. As a result, a firewall cannot be configured to allow connections on the certain ports. Resolving the problem To connect from the configuration Client to the configuration Server through a remote connection, there are three options:
