Objective
To submit bids for an Open Cry auction.
Description
In Open Cry auctions, all bids are available for public viewing; each participant knows the other bids submitted.
Every auction is governed by a set of rules that the bidder must read before participating. If auction rules change during an auction, bidders must reread the rules before submitting or updating bids. Bids submitted prior to a rule change are not affected and may still win the bidding. Shoppers can submit bids and autobids.
Bids submitted by bidders must satisfy bid control rules. When a customer's bid is outbid, an auction notification message is produced to inform the customer that a higher bid has been placed. A customer can modify his or her bids for current auctions. This avoids the need to submit a new bid when the previous bid has been outbid by some other bidder. Bids can be withdrawn before the auction is closed.
Autobids (automatic bids) submit bids for Open Cry auctions on behalf of customers. Customers supply the following information for each autobid:
- The initial bid price.
- The maximum bid limit.
- The desired quantity.
- Their willingness to accept a partial quantity.
- The payment information.
- The billing and shipping information.
Autobids are server-side agents that periodically update bids to maintain a winning status until the maximum bid limit is reached.
Autobids can be modified and withdrawn similar to normal bids.
