Objective
To allow the customer to check out the items in a shopping cart.
Description
Before submitting an order for processing, the customer needs to provide the store with billing address, shipping address, and payment information. This information is stored for a registered customer. A registered customer can also create a quick checkout profile. The quick checkout profile contains the same information. If there are any predefined discounts, the discounts are automatically applied to the order. The customer can view the discounts on the Order Summary page.

Customization
The quick checkout feature may be enabled or disabled by using the Change Flow notebook in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator. If the order status page is enabled; then the shipment tracking feature may be optionally enabled. The ability to allow customers to ship a single order to multiple addresses may be enabled using the Change Flow notebook.

Task Description Role Choose checkout type A registered customer can choose checkout type: regular checkout, or quick checkout.
Registered Customer Remove unavailable item from cart If not all the items in customers' shopping cart are available at the same time, they can remove the unavailable item(s).
Select shipping method The customer selects one or more shipping methods for the ordered items.
Registered Customer Specify billing address The customer provides a billing address and submits it. The address is remembered for the registered customer. For guest customers, the address is remembered as long as the customer does not close the browser.
Registered Customer Specify payment information The customer specifies the payment information, such as payment method, and credit card information. The customer can use multiple payments methods for the same order as required.
Registered Customer Specify promotion code Customers have the option to provide a promotion code to receive discounts or special offers on their order.
Registered Customer Specify shipping address The customer provides the shipping address and submits it. The address is remembered for the registered customer. For the guest customer, the address is remembered as long as the customer does not close the browser. The customer can specify multiple shipping addresses per shipping method.
Registered Customer Specify shipping instructions The customer has several shipping options available such as requested shipping date and expedite for each of the ordered items. Also, the customer can enter free form shipping instructions for ordered items with the same shipping address, shipping method and shipping date. Another shipping option is to ship as complete (ship the entire order when all items in the shopping cart are available) or partial shipments (ship items in the shopping cart as they become available).
Registered Customer Submit order Submits an order for processing. The credit card number is validated before the submission is successful.
Registered Customer View order summary The customer views the summary of an order before submitting it. The ordered items, order prices (discount and coupon information is displayed where applicable), and payment information display.
