Remove an application server node from a cell

Changes to your WebSphere Commerce typology might require the removal of nodes from a cell. Ensure that steps are followed to successfully complete the removal.
If the application server node is a member of a cluster, remove the application server node from the cluster before removing the application server node from the deployment manager cell. If you want to remove an application server node from the deployment manager cell:

  1. On each node in the cell, start the node the agent.

    AIX|Linux|Solaris|Ensure that you start the node agent on each node as the WebSphere Commerce non-root user.

  2. On the WAS ND machine, start the deployment manager profile.

  3. Create a backup of your current configuration. A backup is recommend in case the removeNode command fails. To create a backup of your current configuration, issue the following command on the application server node machine:

    where backup_file specifies the name of the backup file. The system will create this file for you.

  4. I5/OS|Start a QShell session by typing QShell at the i5/OS command prompt.

  5. On the application server node machine, issue the following command:

The removeNode command only removes the node specific configuration from the cell. It does not uninstall any applications that were installed as the result of executing an addNode command, because such applications might subsequently be deployed on additional servers in the network deployment cell.
