Troubleshoot: Instance creation fails during database configuration

A WebSphere Commerce instance creation fails while configuring a remote database. This error condition might occur after the installation of WebSphere Commerce Fix pack 5.

 

Problem

After installing WebSphere Commerce Fix pack 5, an instance creation is attempted. The creation fails during the remote database configuration. A message similar to the following is logged in the createInstanceANT.err.log file

file:/opt/IBM/WebSphere/CommerceServer60/config/deployment/xml/configureDatabase.xml:139:
execTask returned: 8

 

Solution

Add the wasuser to the db2_instance_group on your remote database machine. Attempt the instance creation again, after the user has been added.
