Organizational management roles

WebSphere Commerce supports the following organizational management roles: Buyer Administrator, Buyer Approver, Buyer (buy-side), Procurement Buyer Administrator, Procurement Buyer (buy-side), Organization Participant, Seller Administrator.

The following table describes each role and the business model each role can work within.

Role Description Business model
Buyer Administrator The Buyer Administrator manages the information for the buying organization. The Buyer Administrator creates and administers the suborganizations within the buying organization and manages the various users, including approving users as Buyers (buy-side).

Other buy-side roles such as buyer approvers and additional buyer organization administrators may be created and managed.

Buyer Approver The Buyer Approver approves orders made by the Buyer (buy-side) before the order is submitted for purchase with the Seller.

Buyer (buy-side) The buyer (buy-side) purchases items from the seller on behalf of some customer account. Usually purchases are made under one or more agreements negotiated with the seller. The buyer interacts with the seller's Web site to make purchases.

Procurement Buyer Administrator The Procurement Buyer Administrator registers users as Procurement Buyers. They create and administer the sub-organizations within their buying organization and manage the various users including approving users as buyers.

Procurement Buyer (buy-side) The Procurement Buyer is an individual who belongs to a buyer organization which uses a procurement system to connect to WebSphere Commerce. Procurement Buyers are registered when a request comes from the procurement system. Procurement Buyers use the account belonging to their buyer organization to make purchases from the seller. After purchasing, the Procurement Buyer sends their order to the procurement system for approval.

Organization Participant If the buyer has the Organization Participant role in multiple buyer organizations then that allows the buyer to shop on behalf of those organizations. By default, the buyer is entitled to shop under its parent organization. After selecting an organization to shop under, the currently entitled contracts for the customer will be re-evaluated and loaded in the session.

Seller Administrator The Seller Administrator manages the information for the selling organization. Seller administrators create and administer the sub-organizations within the selling organization and the various users in the selling organization, including the assignment of the appropriate business roles.
