Subscribing to a Communities feed to get automatic updates

Subscribe to feeds to receive updates about application, and user data to monitor. Your feed reader automatically delivers details about changes and saves you the task of checking each application for updates.

You must have a feed reader that supports Atom feeds.

Subscribing to a feed simplifies the task of monitoring changes in Connections. Your feed reader automatically retrieves and displays content updates for each feed subscription.

This Feeds feature differs from the Feeds feature in the Communities application. The Feeds feature in Communities is a mini feed reader that publishes updates from external sites on the community page.

  1. Go to the page with the content to which to subscribe.

  2. Click the Feed icon to subscribe to the content on the current page.

Blogs only: Hover the cursor on the feed link to select whether to create the feed in a community or in the web browser.

  3. Add the feed to the feed reader. See documentation for the web browser or feed reader.

    Tips: (Communities only)

    • When we specify the web address of a feed, we can use the ps parameter to specify a different page size for the feed. By default, feeds in Communities display 10 entries per page. The first page of 10 entries is fetched by default. We can use the page parameter to fetch subsequent pages. For example, we can use the following web address to fetch the second page of the My Communities feed where the page size is set to 20 entries: http://connections.myco.com/communities/service/atom/communities/my?page=2&ps=20.

    • Subscribe to the Activities feed of a community to track activities in the community.
