Share a status message with the community
Enter a status message on the Status Updates page to keep members up-to-date on what is happening in the community.
We can share the status if the status updates feature is available in the deployment and if a community owner allows it.
Keep people in the community up-to-date by frequently posting a status to the Status Updates page for the community. This message displays in the Status Updates page, but it does not display in the profile or the home page.
To update the status message for the community.
- From any view in the community, click Status Updates in the community navigation.
- Enter the status message in the text box. When you include URLs in the status updates, they are automatically converted to hyperlinks.
- To tag the message with a specific keyword, include the keyword prefixed with a hash (#) symbol as part of the message. When you save the message, the keyword is automatically converted to a link. Other people in the community can click the link to search for content tagged with the same keyword.
- To mention a colleague in the status update and share the update directly with them, enter the at (@) symbol followed by the person's name, and then select the person's name from the drop-down list that displays. When you post the update, a notification email is sent to the person, and a message is also posted to their profile to let them know that you mentioned them.
If wer community is private and the person is not a member, they do not receive any notification about the message.
