How do I copy or move files?

We can organize library files by moving them or copying them to different folders.

For linked libraries, we can only copy and move files in an IBM FileNet Content Manager deployment. This functionality is not supported by IBM Content Manager.

When you copy or move a file to another folder, it inherits the access level of the new folder and is only available to people who have access to that folder.

Complete the following steps to copy or move files.

  1. Navigate to the file to work with, and click More next to the file.

  2. Click More Actions and select one of the following options:

    • To save a copy of the file to a folder, select Copy to Folder, select a folder, and click Copy. Users with the appropriate level of access to the folder can download and work with the copied file without affecting the original version.

This action requires reader access to the source file and contributor access to the target location.

    • To move the file to a folder, select Move to Folder, select a folder, and click Move.

This action requires contributor access to the target location, and owner access to the source file and to remove the file from the source location.
