Resolve a problem
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem using the IBM Support Assistant (ISA) workbench or ISA Lite client.
IBM Support Assistant automates the process of running traces and collecting the necessary data from the system. Select which version to use:
- IBM Support Assistant Lite
- This version of the tool is packaged with Connections, and supports all supported operating systems. Use this version on AIX , Linux, System z for Linux, and Windows operating systems. The tool can enable traces automatically, collect the necessary log files and configuration files, and package them together. This information is needed for the support team to analyze the problem.
- IBM Support Assistant workbench
- To use this version of the tool, we must download and install it. It is only supported on Windows operating systems.
Both the workbench and the lite client can only collect data associated with database issues when we are using IBM DB2 ; they do not have collectors for Oracle nor SQL Server databases.
- Use IBM Support Assistant lite
IBM Support Assistant (ISA) Lite is a tool that is installed with Connections that helps you gather data to provide to service personnel. We can use ISA Lite to automate data collection and therefore expedite problem resolution.
- Use the IBM Support Assistant workbench
The IBM Support Assistant is a tool designed to help answer questions and gather data for service personnel if needed. We can use the IBM Support Assistant to perform federated searches across information repositories, access support-related web resources, and automate data collection to expedite problem resolution.
