Resolve a problem without Support tools

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem without using the IBM Support Assistant.

Use this procedure if you do not want to use the IBM Support Assistant or IBM Support Assistant lite, which are tools that automate the process of running traces and collecting the necessary data from the system. Though it takes time to download and install the full IBM Support Assistant tool, the lite edition is installed with the product and available for use immediately. Both tools make the data collection process much easier.

To resolve the problem without using Support tools:

  1. Review common troubleshooting issues in Troubleshooting tips.

  2. To find out more about the cause of the problem, look up the error message being generated in the Error message reference.

  3. To not collect diagnosis information using the IBM Support Assistant, we can search for technotes that describe the data that we must gather before you open a problem management record (PMR).
