Migrate 4.0 or 4.5 data in-place

Prepare to update the Connections 4.0 or 4.5 databases to v5.0.

Updating databases in-place overwrites the existing databases. Back up the databases before beginning the update. If the update fails, we can minimize downtime by restoring the backup.

When using the in-place strategy to update the databases to Connections 5.0, we can no longer use the Connections 4.0/4.5 deployment. Moreover, this strategy increases the system downtime because we must stop the 4.0/4.5 deployment.

The in-place strategy is a good option when we have limited system resources because it minimizes the system resources required. Instead of migrating the data, you simply update the Connections 4.0/4.5 databases. To keep the 4.0/4.5 databases, use the side-by-side data migration strategy instead.
