Install the Snoop servlet with the WebSphere Integrated Solutions Console?

This procedure installs DefaultApplication.ear file to enable the snoop servlet.

DefaultApplication.ear may already be installed. Click All applications to verify.

  1. Log in to the WAS administrative console.

    The Snoop application can be installed on any WebSphere application in the environment. For the purposes of the video, we will be using server1.

  2. Click Servers | Server Types | WebSphere application servers.

    Ensure that the target WAS is in a running state.

    Click Applications | New Application | New Enterprise Application | Choose File

    The default location for the application is under the installableApps directory, which is under the WAS installation directory.

  3. Double-click DefaultApplication.ear.

    Click Next.

  4. We are prompted to select how we want to install the application. Fast Path is selected by default.

    Click Next.

    Click Next.

    Map modules to servers page appears.

    Click Next.

  5. Click Finish on the summary page.

  6. The highlighted text indicates that the application was installed successfully.

    Click Save.

  7. Click System Administration | Nodes.

    Ensure that the node is synchronized with the deployment manager. If not, click the refresh icon to refresh the status of the node.

  8. Click All applications.

    Check the Box next to the DefaultApplication.ear file.

    Verify the start option is selected.

    Click Submit Action.

    This message appears if the start operation was successful.

    A message appears if the start operation was successful.

  9. Click WebSphere application servers.

    Click the server.

  10. Click Ports.

    Click wc_defaulthost.

    If application security is enabled, use the wc_defaulthost_secure port.

  11. Your port number for the application is listed here.

    Open a new tab in the web browser.

    Enter http://hostname:portnumber/snoop.

    If application security is enabled, ensure to use https instead of http.

    Show user where the port number for the application is listed.

    Enter http://hostname:portnumber/snoop

    For example:

      http://192.168.0.10:9080/snoop

    If application security is enabled, ensure to use https instead of http.

  12. If this page appears, then Snoop was successfully installed on our WAS.

    A page appears to confirm that Snoop was successfully installed on our WAS. Show user the page.

The default application has other servlets besides snoop.
