Starting the application server environment in the QWAS85 subsystem
WebSphere Application Server runs in its own subsystem, called QWAS85, which is installed with the product. Use these steps to prepare your system to run WAS profiles.
WAS profiles run in the QWAS85 subsystem and require that TCP/IP is configured and activated on the system. To prepare your system to run WAS profiles:
Tasks
- Start Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). On the CL command line, enter:
STRTCP- Start the application server profile. If the QWAS85 subsystem is not active, it is started when we start your application server profile.
The default application server does not automatically start when the subsystem is started. If the QWAS85 subsystem is not currently active when we use the startServer Qshell script to start the server, the QWAS85 subsystem is started.gotcha
What to do next
Using one of the following methods to verify that the application server is running:
- On the CL command line, enter the Work with Active Jobs (WRKACTJOB) command:
WRKACTJOB SBS(QWAS85)The SERVER1 job should be listed if WAS Version 6.1 is installed. When the server is ready to accept requests, the job log should contain message WAS0106, "WAS serverName ready."- Look for QIBM_WSA_ADMIN under Server Jobs in the System i Navigator.
