Editing the web server type
We can change the type of web server if we install one that differs from your currently installed web server.
If we install a web server that is different from the one that is currently installed, we can modify the web server type from IBM HTTP Server to a non-IBM HTTP Server and vice versa, rather than delete the web server and create a new web server definition. If we change the web server type from IBM HTTP Server to non-IBM HTTP Server web server, the administration capabilities are lost accordingly.
Tasks
- From the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, click...
Servers > Server Types > Web servers.
- Select the server to modify.
- On the web server configuration panel, change the web server by selecting an option from the Type drop-down menu. If we are changing from a non-IBM HTTP Server to an IBM HTTP Server, we are also prompted for information such as IBM HTTP Server administration server port, user ID, and IBM HTTP Server administration server password.
- Click Apply.
We can verify our changes on the web servers collection panel. The web server type displays in the Web Server Type column.
