WAS v8.5 > Administer applications and their environment > Use the administrative clients > Use administrative programs (JMX) > Extend the WAS administrative system with custom MBeansSet Java 2 security permissions
You must configure Java 2 security permissions to use Java Management Extension and WebSphere Application Server administrative methods.
When you enable Java 2 security, you must grant Java 2 security permissions to application-specific code for Java Management Extensions (JMX) and WAS administrative privileges. With these permissions, the application code can call WAS administrative methods and JMX methods.
If we are using Java 2 security then you need to verify that your extensions and application server can access the required resources. The following steps show how to configure access for JMX and the application server administrative methods.
- Use the following permission to invoke all the JMX class methods and interface methods:
permission javax.management.MBeanPermission "*", "*";
Consult the application programming interfaces documentation for specific actions under the MBeanPermission class.
- Use the following permission for WAS administrative APIs:
permission com.ibm.websphere.security.WebSphereRuntimePermission "AdminPermission";
