Backup and recover administrative configurations

Most of the configuration for the WebSphere Application Server instance resides in the config directory structure. In addition, the properties directory also contains several important configuration files. This topic discusses how to back up and recover the configuration.

This topic assumes familiarity with the SAV and RST commands.

The administrative configuration contains vital information regarding the WAS setup. Back up configuration files on a regular basis.

• Issue the SAV command to save configuration files and properties files.

  For example:

  SAV DEV('/QSYS.lib/wsalib.lib/wsasavf.file') OBJ(('profile_root/properties/*') ('profile_root/config/*'))

  The default instance name is default.

  The command is split for printing purposes. Enter the command on one command line.

• Issue the RST command to restore configuration files and properties files.

  For example:

  RST DEV('/QSYS.lib/wsalib.lib/wsasavf.file') OBJ('/QIBM/*')

Results

You have saved and backed up the WAS configuration.
