Heterogeneous cells in mixed platforms within a cell

Other operating systems can exist in the same Application Server cell. With careful planning, we can manage cells across different z/OS Sysplexes and different operating systems.

Cells can span z/OS sysplex environments and other operating systems. For example, z/OS nodes, Linux nodes, UNIX nodes, and Windows nodes can exist in the same Application Server cell. This kind of configuration is referred to as a heterogeneous cell.

A heterogeneous cell does require significant planning. The Heterogeneous Cells - cells with nodes on mixed operating system platforms white paper outlines the planning and system considerations required to build a heterogeneous cell.
