Enable and disable logging

This topic describes how to enable and disable logging through the admin console. We can enable and disable logging through the administrative console to start the generation of request metrics logs in the SystemOut.log file in the following directory:

$PROFILE_ROOT/logs/server_name

New feature: Beginning in WAS v8.0 you can configure the server to use the HPEL log and trace infrastructure instead of using SystemOut.log , SystemErr.log, trace.log, and activity.log files or native z/OS logging facilities. If you are using HPEL, you can access all of your log and trace information using the LogViewer command-line tool from your server profile bin directory. See the information about using HPEL to troubleshoot applications for more information on using HPEL.New feature:

Procedure

  1. Open the admin console.

  2. Click Monitor and Tuning > Request Metrics.

  3. Under Request Metrics Destination, select the Standard Logs check box to enable the logging feature.

To disable the logging , clear the Standard Logs check box.

Results

The logging feature is enabled. We can view the generated request metrics logs in the SystemOut.log file.
