Set a topic connection factory for the WebSphere MQ messaging provider

Use this task to set the configuration of an existing JMS topic connection factory for publish/subscribe messaging with the WebSphere MQ messaging provider.

With JMS 1.1, domain-independent (unified) connection factories are preferred to domain-specific queue connection factories and topic connection factories. To browse or configure unified connection factories, see the related tasks.

To set the configuration of an existing topic connection factory for use with the WebSphere MQ messaging provider, use the admin console to complete the

  1. In the navigation pane, click...

    Resources | JMS | Topic connection factories

  2. Set the scope

  3. Click the name of the topic connection factory that you want to set.

  4. Under General properties make modifications as necessary.

    If this connection factory is used to connect to a queue manager or queue-sharing group on a WebSphere MQ for z/OS system, enter the value 6.0.0.0 in the Provider version property. The connection factory must use this provider version value regardless of the version of WebSphere MQ for z/OS to which it connects. The Provider version property is in the Advanced section of the General Properties.

  5. Click Apply to save the configuration.

  6. Click Advanced properties to display or change the list of advanced properties of the topic connection factory.

  7. Click Broker properties to display or change the list of broker properties of the topic connection factory.

  8. Click Custom properties to display or change the list of custom properties of the topic connection factory.

  9. Click Client transport properties to display or change the list of client transport properties of the topic connection factory. This link is only present on the explicitly-defined variation of this panel, where you enter all information required to connect to WebSphere MQ.

    This link does not appear for the CCDT-based variation.

  10. Click Connection pools to display or change the connection pools detail of the topic connection factory.

  11. Click Session pools to display or change the session pools detail of the topic connection factory.

  12. Click OK.

  13. Save the changes to the master configuration.

  14. To have the changed configuration take effect, stop then restart the appserver.
