Managing remotely with the WAS administrative console

You can remotely administer and configure IHS using the WebSphere Application Server admin console.

After you define a Web server definition in the WebSphere repository to represent the installed IHS, an administrator can administer and configure IBM HTTP Server through the WAS admin console. IBM HTTP Server cannot be remotely managed by the IHS administration server when IBM HTTP Server is started under a non-root user ID.

Administration includes the ability to start and stop the IHS. You can display and edit the IBM HTTP Server configuration file, and you can view the IHS error and access logs. The plug-in configuration file can be generated for IHS and propagated to the remote, or locally-installed, IHS. z/OS:

Administration and configuration using the WAS admin console is available if IBM HTTP Server is on a managed node only. The node agent must be present to perform administration because there is no support for the IHS administration server.
