Storing the encrypted database password in a stash file
This section describes how you would store your database password in a stash file.
For a secure network connection, you can store the encrypted database password in a stash file.
These stash files should be treated as highly sensitive information.
- Store the password while a database creates as follows:
- Start the ikeyman user interface. Refer to Starting the Key Management utility for platform-specific instructions.
- Click Key Database File from the main user interface, then click Open.
- Enter your key database name in the Open dialog box, or click the key.kdbfile, if using the default. Click OK.
- Enter your password in the Password Prompt dialog box, then enter again to confirm your password.
- Select the stash box and click OK.
- Click Key Database File > Stash Password.
- Click OK in the information dialog box.
- Store the password after creating a database as follows:
- Start the ikeyman user interface. Refer to Starting the Key Management utility for platform-specific instructions.
- Click Key Database File from the main user interface, then click Open.
- Enter your key database name in the Open dialog box, or click the key.kdb file, if we use the default. Click OK.
- Enter your correct password in the Password Prompt dialog box, and click OK.
- Click Key Database File, then click Stash Password.
- Click OK in the Information dialog box.
