WebSphere V6 introduces a new concept for advanced failover and thus higher availability, called the High Availability Manager (HAManager). The HAManager enhances the availability of WebSphere singleton services such as transaction services or message services. It runs as a service within each appserver process that monitors the health of WebSphere clusters. In the event of a server failure, the HAManager will failover the singleton service and recover any in-flight transactions. See Chapter 6, WebSphere HAManager for details.
