SIP load balancer

 

The SIP load balancer handles IP spraying to a cluster of SIP proxies.

A SIP Advisor runs on the load balancer. It uses the OPTIONS message sent over TCP to monitor SIP proxies. The message interval is configurable (default = 7 seconds).

The SIP advisor application is installed on the SIP container. It responds to OPTIONS messages sent from the SIP advisor. If an error response occurs, or there is no response, or if the TCP connection fails, the proxy is removed from the active list. The SIP advisor continues to look for SIP proxy after a failure. Install the SIP advisor application into the SIP proxy’s default cluster and enable the SIP advisor on the IP sprayer. Be sure to configure each proxy that the IP sprayer is fronting, including:

• The host and port definitions for the IP sprayer

• Listen on the loopback address so that outgoing SIP messages are sent from the proper host address.
