Use the Migration wizard
Use the Migration wizard to migrate from WebSphere® Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 to WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1.
Before you begin
WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.1 can support a WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.0.2 migration from only two specific installations. WebSphere Extended Deployment V6.0.2 must exist on one of the following WebSphere Application Server products:While both installations are supported, the steps to migrate from each type of environment are slightly different.
- Network Deployment V6.0.2
- Network Deployment V6.1
About this task
WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1 introduces a new strategy for migrating and merging the configuration of separate products. Until now, you were required to complete a migration process in which the deployment manager and all of the nodes were migrated at the same time. With V6.1, you first migrate the deployment manager, and then migrate each node one at a time, which creates a mixed cell environment. Additionally, if you have an existing installation of WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 on WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.1, you can migrate directly from WebSphere XD V6.0.2 to V6.1 without having to install or migrate WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
Procedure
- Start the Migration wizard. Run the following command to access the Migration wizard:
- install_root\bin\xd_migration.bat
- install_root\bin\xd_migration.sh
- Read the Welcome panel, and click Next.
- Click Browse to enter the WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 location from which you want to migrate. Click the second Browse button to enter the WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 profile path from which you want to migrate, and click Next.
- Click Browse to enter the WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1 profile path to which the configuration is migrated, and click Next to continue.
- Click Browse to enter the directory in which to save the migration logs. Optionally, type the trace level to use with generating the diagnostic messages. The levels range from 1 to 7, with 7 as the default. Click Next to continue.
- Read the information in the summary panel to verify that it is correct, and click Next to start the migration. The progress of the migration process is then displayed.
When the migration completes, a panel displays a message of completion. If the migration is not successful, a failure message is displayed instead. You can correct any problems, and restart the migration.
- Click Finish to exit the wizard.
