Configure Active Directory using the configuration wizard

This file provides information on how to configure the LDAP user registry using the configuration wizard.

You must install the LDAP server, create required LDAP users and groups, and set up the LDAP server before running the configuration wizard.

Perform this task on the computer hosting IBM WebSphere Portal. For additional help during configuration, use the Help button located in the configuration wizard window.

  1. Switch to the configuration wizard window.

    See Configuring WebSphere Portal with the configuration wizard for information on how to start the configuration wizard.

  2. In the Select the task that you want to perform dialog box, select Enable LDAP security and then click Next.

  3. If the WAS global security is enabled... dialog box appears, type the IBM WAS administrative user name and password in the appropriate fields, and then click Next.

    Passwords should not contain spaces.

  4. Enter the LDAP server connection information and then click Next.

  5. Enter the user ID and password used to connect to the LDAP server and click Next.

  6. Enter the LDAP object class configured for our LDAP server and click Next.

  7. Enter the prefixes and suffixes configured for the LDAP server and click Next.

  8. Enter the LDAP administrator user ID and password and click Next.

  9. Enter the LDAP group names for Web Content Management and click Next.

  10. In the summary dialog box, review the settings for the LDAP server configuration. If changes are necessary, click Back, otherwise, click Next to begin configuring the LDAP server.

  11. In the Running task dialog box, the status bar will show the progress of the task. To view the log file for the task, click Open. Once the task is complete, click Next.

  12. If the task runs successfully, the message The wizard ran the task successfully will display. Click Finish to exit the wizard.

  13. If the task runs with errors, the message The wizard ran the task with errors will display. For more information, click Open Message File. To perform additional configurations, click Run Wizard Again. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
