Overview

Folders and documents may be displayed in a tree view or a list view.

The folder tree displays the hierarchy of the document library folder and can be expanded and collapsed to view nested folders.

The list view displays a table of folders and documents inside the currently selected folder. If the administrator has enabled the folder tree, you have the option to hide the folder tree.

Click Show folders to display the tree view, and click Hide folders to display only the table view. The option to turn on the folder tree is also available in the window where we can set and edit preferences.

Navigate the tree view

The tree view displays the folder hierarchy vertically, starting at the document library root folder. To navigate in the tree view, expand and collapse folders to explore, and click a folder to select it.

Navigate the list view

The list view shows a table of the folders and documents inside the currently selected folder. Navigate into a folder by clicking on the folder name. If a folder contains a large number of folders and documents, the folders and files are displayed on multiple pages. To navigate pages in the list view, use the arrow buttons found above or below the list to page forward and back. If the tree view is hidden, a trail of the path in the folder hierarchy is displayed above the table. Click a folder name in the trail to return to that folder.

When viewing a set or list of folders, a maximum number of folders is displayed in the list at one time.

By default, the maximum number of folders displayed in a folder is set to 500. If there are more items than can be displayed in the list, a message is displayed at the bottom of the list. We can use search, or change the view criteria, to see additional documents.
