Overview

WebSphere Portal can be installed either locally or remotely.

If you install remotely, you will need the following:

  1. Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP
  2. Workstation CD-ROM drive
  3. TCP/IP connection to the iSeries system where you will install WebSphere Portal
  4. The iSeries server must be in an unrestricted state
  5. A valid user ID and password on the iSeries system
  6. A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR to install and configure WebSphere Portal

If you install locally, you will need the following:

  1. iSeries CD-ROM drive
  2. The iSeries server must be in an unrestricted state
  3. A valid iSeries user ID and password
  4. A user profile with a user type (user class) of *SECOFR to install and configure WebSphere Portal

 

Verify network setup

Verify the following network setup requirements before installation:

  • Static IP address. WebSphere Portal requires that you use a static IP address on the machine where you are installing.

  • Fully-qualified host.name. To verify....

    ping yourserver.yourcompany.com
