Manage Web content
Use IWWCM (WCM) to develop, manage and deliver Web content in the form of Web pages and portlets.
WCM technology is included with WebSphere Portal by default, including support for syndication and rendering portlets. However, before we can use the authoring capability of WCM to create content, perform the configuration described in Installing the Authoring portlet.
- An overview of developing Web content
Before using IWWCM, you should become familiar with the terminology used in WCM and the basic Web content development process.
- Preparing for Web content creation
Before we can begin creating Web content, first create site frameworks, taxonomies, workflows and authoring templates. You must also determine the most appropriate access control, workflow control and profiling strategies for the Web content.
- Create Web content
To create Web pages using IWWCM, create a set of elements to store or generate different types of Web content.
- Display Web content
Use IWWCM tags and placeholders within presentation templates and element designs to display elements and metadata on a Web page.
- Manage items
We can use features, such as version control and workflows, to manage the items used to develop Web content.
- Work with other products
We can use IWWCM with other products and features such as Document Manager, Portal Personalization and Portal Search.
- Extend Web Content Management
We can extend the standard features of IWWCM using the Web Content Management API and JSP files.
