To access the authoring portlet, open the main menu and click on Web Content and select the Web Content Management tab.

 

Authoring portlet access rights

Access to the different views and items within the authoring portlet are determined by:

  • The role you have been assigned for each Web content library.

  • The role you have been assigned for each view within the authoring portlet.

  • The access level you have been assigned for each Web Content Management item.

 

Browser limitations

  • Netscape 8.1: Use the "display like Firefox" option instead of "display like Internet Explorer" when viewing the authoring portlet.

 

The Web Content Management Java applet

The first time you use a Web Content Management system we will, at some point, be asked to authorize a Java Applet. Click Grant Always and this dialog will no longer display.

If you ever receive an error stating that the...

"Web Content Management applet failed to load or is unavailable"

... you may need to reinstall the applet:

  1. Remove the certficate for the Web Content Management applet. For example, on a Windows system,...

    Control Panel | Java Plugin | Certificates

  2. Reinstall or update the JRE.

  3. Open a new WebSphere Portal session.

  4. Go to the Web Content Management tab.

  5. At some point, you will be asked to authorize a Java Applet. Click Grant Always and this dialog will no longer display.
