Integrate the Lotus Domino servers and portlets
To integrate IBM Lotus Domino and any associated portlets into the portal site, you perform a series of configuration tasks on an installed Lotus Domino server running LDAP, on any Lotus Domino messaging/application servers you have installed, and on the WebSphere Portal server.
Checklist of tasks: LDAP server for Lotus Collaborative Services is an additional and completely different task from configuring the portal server to recognize an LDAP directory. Even if the site is already configured with an LDAP directory, this task is still necessary to support the Domino and Extended Products Portlets. If the existing LDAP directory for the site is a Domino Directory server, you still must complete this task to support portlets. If the LDAP server used to support the Collaborative Services is a Lotus Domino server, it can be the same or a different Lotus Domino LDAP server, as long as the server is in the same Notes domain as all other Domino and Extended Products servers you intend to use.
After you complete the tasks listed below, the Lotus Domino configuration will be ready for us to include any Lotus Domino messaging/application servers in single sign-on (SSO) as described in Configuring single sign-on between WebSphere Portal and Lotus Domino.
If you encounter problems after you complete configuration, see Troubleshooting Lotus Domino and the Extended Products
Overview
- About automatic detection of mail files
Messaging portlets are configured by default to detect a user's source mail file (a Notes database) based on the identity with which the user signs into the portal. The LDAP server for Lotus Collaborative Services, and Single Sign-On configuration for the portal site, are requirements to support this feature.
- Checklist of tasks: LDAP server for Lotus Collaborative Services
A server that runs the LDAP service is a requirement to support automatic mail detection in the following portlets: Lotus Notes View, Domino Web Access, Common Mail and Common Calendar (when using a IBM Lotus Domino back-end server).
- Checklist of tasks: Lotus Domino messaging/application servers and portlets
IBM Lotus Domino servers that contain source Notes databases are required for all the portlets that allow users to display and work with Notes mail databases (for example, Lotus Notes View, Common Mail, Domino Web Access) or Notes applications (for example, Lotus Notes View, Domino Document Manager, or the Lotus QuickPlace portlets). Our portal site may include one or many such messaging/application servers.
- Domino portlets reference
We can use reference information on the Domino portlets when you modify their parameters in Administration. This portlets reference also includes information on new features in the current release, client and server requirements, and deployment/installation.
