Script-based alert definitions
Script-based alert definitions are created from scratch in the Manage Alerts portlet. They are a good choice if you are a user or administrator who is not an experienced developer.
This type of alert definition uses an alert evaluator that is included with WebSphere Dashboard Framework. Script-based alert definitions use simple mathematical comparison expressions that you define while working in the Manage Alerts portlet. These expressions usually compare application data against a threshold limit. When data falls outside the bounds defined by these mathematical expressions, an alert is generated. Additional logic defines when an alert will be generated, the logic for assigning priorities to those alerts, and string expressions for the text descriptions of the contents of these alerts.
