Migrating XML-based alert definitions to a database persistence manager
This topic describes how to employ the XML-file persistence manager in development and then use the database persistence manager in production without needing to rewrite alert definitions.
The XML-file persistence manager is the default persistence manager and can run without further configuration. If you decide to use a database persistence manager after you have set up alerting, use the ImportDefinitions.model to import XML-based alerting data into the database tables used by the database persistence manager. The Import Definitions.model comes with the Alerts Module feature set and is located in the project under WEB-INF/models/solutions/alerting/admin. Add the model to a page to run it in WebSphere Portal.
- Using the Import Definitions portlet
After deploying the ImportDefinitions.model as a portlet, use the portlet to migrate alert definitions from an XML-file persistence manager to a database persistence manager.Parent topic: Alert definitions
