Migrating the ccsid.tbl file from MQSeries V5.2 to WebSphere MQ V6.0
On Linux for Intel there were significant changes to the ccsid.tbl file between MQSeries Version 5.2 and WebSphere MQ V5.3. When you migrate from MQSeries V5.2 to WebSphere MQ V5.3, the existing ccsid.tbl file in /var/mqm/conv/table is renamed and replaced by the latest version copied from /opt/mqm/samp/ccsid.tbl. On WebSphere MQ V6.0, the ccsid.tbl file is copied only if /var/mqm/conv/table does not exist. This can cause the following errors:
- AMQ6173: No CCSID found for codeset <insert_3>.
- AMQ7047: An unexpected error was encountered by a command.
We can either:
- Copy the new ccsid.tbl file installed in /opt/mqm/samp/ to /var/mqm/conv/table/ so that the correct codeset can be found. Or,
- Delete the var/mqm/conv/ccsid.tbl file before performing the installation of WebSphere MQ version 6.0.
Because the WebSphere MQ V5.3 and WebSphere MQ V6.0 versions of the ccsid.tbl file are identical, this is not a problem for migration from WebSphere MQ version 5.3 to WebSphere MQ V6.0.
