How this book is organized

This book contains the following sections:

This section outlines the simple preliminary checks and tests that you should perform to try and establish the cause of the problem. You should find that working through this section is all that is required to solve your problem.

Part 2. Dealing with the problem

This section tells you how to deal with more complex WebSphere MQ problems, diagnosed in the previous section. It covers the following problems:

  • Program abends

  • Waits and loops

  • Performance problems

  • Incorrect output

Part 3. Diagnostic aids and techniques

This section covers the tools we can use in solving your WebSphere MQ problems. It discusses the use of dumps and traces, and gives a list of other possible sources of information about the problem.

Part 4. Finding solutions to similar problems

This section tells you how to develop a set of keywords to search the IBM software support database for solutions to similar problems.

Part 5. Working with IBM to solve your problem

This section tells you what to expect if we need to contact the IBM support center for help with your problem. It also covers the APAR process.
