Migrating from MQ V5.1 or later

 

There are two major types of upgrade:

• The upgrade takes place on the same machine, optionally accompanied by a hardware upgrade. This is referred to as a slip install.

• The upgrade takes place on a different machine. This is referred to as a side-by-side install.

Whichever type of install you perform, first:

1. Prepare your system

2. Quiesce your queue managers

• Preparing for migration
  

• Quiescing MQ
  

• Performing a slip install
  

• Performing a side-by-side install
  

• Migrating translated versions
  

• Verifying the migration
  

• After migration
