What's new in WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0
WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 provides the following new and changed functions:
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 Explorer is now based on the Eclipse platform. The WebSphere MQ Explorer is a graphical user interface and allows you to administer and monitor WebSphere MQ objects on both Windows and other platforms. The Explorer has integrated user help, to get to this press F1. For further information about using the WebSphere MQ Explorer see the WebSphere MQ System Administration Guide.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 introduces the ability for queue managers to communicate using Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in addition to the existing, IPv4. If you are a migrating customer, see the WebSphere MQ Migration Information for further information.
- A new form of license management is implemented for this release of the product. WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 supports IBM Tivoli License Manager.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 supports the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Application, new to this product release. The File Transfer Application allows you to send and receive ordinary files in the form of WebSphere MQ messages and has both a graphical user interface and a command line interface.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 has improved support for Secure Socket Layer (SSL). If you are already using SSL, see WebSphere MQ Migration Information for more information.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 now writes trace files to the directory data_directory\trace instead of data_directory\errors, where data_directory is the full path to WebSphere MQ data.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0 now writes error logs to data_directory\errors. In earlier versions of WebSphere MQ for Windows these were written to data_direcotry\qmgrs\@SYSTEM\errors. data_directory is the full path to WebSphere MQ data.
- WebSphere MQ for Windows, V6.0.2.1 includes support for 32-bit applications running on 64-bit operating systems, see Installing on 64-bit Windows operating systems for more information.
