Importing WebSphere Portal data into Tivoli Web Site Analyzer

After a site analysis log file is generated for the portal, you can import the data into Tivoli Web Site Analyzer for analysis. See the Tivoli Web Site Analyzer documentation for instructions on creating a project and importing data for the project. In addition to the Tivoli Web Site Analyzer documentation, follow these tips for adding the portal log as a Tivoli Web Site Analyzer data import:

  • Use the Add Log File dialog to add the data import.
  • In the section Log File Information:

    • In the Type Field, select Portal Server.
    • In the Syntax field, select NCSA Combined.
    • In the Log File Name field, you can specify an explicit file name or sa*.log to analyze multiple files. If you are using an FTP connection from the portal to the Tivoli Web Site Analyzer machine, you can use the wildcard setting to retrieve remote files.
    • Leave the Access Log, Referral Log and User Agent Log fields blank.
    • Set the location (Local or Remote) as appropriate for your installation.
  • In the section Schedule Log File, set the fields according to the intervals at which your log files are created. See Configure the portal for site analysis logging for information about the logging interval.

If you are using Tivoli Web Site Analyzer to provide session metrics in projects other than WebSphere Portal, the project definition must specify JSESSIONID as the key name to parse out for Tivoli Web Site Analyzer sessionization.
