Overview

The TAM security architecture uses the WebSEAL reverse proxy security server as an entry point for all service requests to WebSphere. WebSEAL is the only exposed entry point, authentictes all requestss, and forwards credentials in HTTP headers to WebSphere Trust Association Interceptors (TAIs).

WebSphere gives full trust to WebSEAL. This trust is validated by the interceptors that reside in the WebSphere environment for every request received. Validation parameters are defined in...

$WAS_HOME/webseal.properties

The WAS v5.x TAI implementation only returns user DN. Future versions will include Security product header information. Also note, the interface to write a TAI is defined by IBM.
