Overview

Document Viewer allows users to browse Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, or rich text files.

 

Using Document Viewer

The Document Viewer allows users to conveniently browse Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, or rich text files. The files can be viewed either within the portlet or in another window. Users can also modify the size of the display area if they browse within the portlet.

There are no known test or usage assumptions.

 

Client requirements

This portlet supports browsers capable of rendering HTML markup. The following table provides detailed information

Software This portlet has been tested on the following browsers:
  • Internet Explorer V6.0
  • Netscape V4.72
  • The Rich Text File Viewer only supports Internet Explorer and requires a Microsoft Word viewer at the minimum.
  • You need Adobe Acrobat Reader and the Web browser plug-in for the PDF viewer. For more information, go to http://www.adobe.com .
  • You need the corresponding viewer application to use the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint document viewers. These viewers are not supported on Netscape 6. If you are using Netscape 4, you can download the correct viewer plugin from http://home.netscape.com/plugins/search_pi.html

There are no special server requirements.

 

Deployment/Installation

For general information on installing portlets, go to the section --Administering-- in the left menu. In the section, browse to Administering your portal-->Portal administration portlets-->Install portlets

Note: This portlet is not supported as a remote WSRP service.
