WCM Search Rules
Overview
Search Rule items are used to store rule sets for filtering the search results of a Menu. A Search Rule can be used to select a subset of a current user's Categories to be used as search parameters in a Menu.
Default Search Rules
There are three default Search Rules:
Current Content Categories Display content profiled with the same categories as those used to profile the current content. Current Content Keywords Display content profiled with the same keywords used to profile the current content. Current User Categories Display content profiled with the same categories as those selected by the current user (Category Selection Tree).
Custom Search Rules
Custom Search Rules are mainly used when the results of Default Search Rules return extremely long results. Custom Search Rules can be used to restrict the results returned in Menus to a sub-set of a Default Search Rule. There are three types of Custom Search Rules:
Restricted Current Content Categories Restrict the Current Content Categories used as search parameters in a Menu to those selected in this Search Rule. Restricted Current User Categories Restrict the Current User Categories used as search parameters in a Menu to those selected in this Search Rule. Query String Categories Select Categories listed in a URL as search parameters in a Menu. This would mainly be used with URLs created using the Profile Component. Search Rules are selected in a Menu form by clicking on the Search Rules button. Parent topic: Search Rules.
