Searching for Web Content Management content in Portal Personalization

To reference Web Content Management content in a Personalization Rule, do the following:

Note: JCR Shadow:

To be able to search for Web Content Management content with Portal Personalization, enable a JCR shadow within Web Content Management. refer to the Enable Portal Personalization Integration topic for further information. Note: Further Information:

refer to the Personalization section of the WebSphere Portal Information Center for further information on Portal Personalization.

 

Create a Resource Collection:

  1. Login to WebSphere Portal.
  2. Navigate to the Personalization Workspace.
  3. Click New -> Resource Collection.
  4. Enter a name: E.g. - WCM Resource Collection.
  5. Specify the following settings:

    • Standard Resource Collection Resource Class: com.aptrix.pluto.pzn.resources.WCMResource
    • Manager Class: com.aptrix.pluto.pzn.resources.WCMResourceManager
    • Domain Class: com.aptrix.pluto.pzn.resources.WCMResourceManager
  6. Select Save.

 

Create a Personalization Rule

  1. Login to WebSphere Portal.
  2. Navigate to the Personalization Workspace.
  3. Select New-> Rule.
  4. Enter a name: E.g. - Get WCM Content.
  5. Select Resource.Attribute.
  6. Select the Resource Collection which was created in step 4 of "Creating a Resource Collection" - see above.
  7. Select the Web Content Management metadata you would like Portal Personalization to use as its search criteria. E.g. - Template.
  8. Click "value" and type in a value to search for. E.g. - Template name
  9. Select Save.

The Personalization Rule can now be referenced within a Content Spot, displayed in a Personalization Rule Portlet, or referenced in a Web Content Management component allowing you to display personalized Web Content Management content to different users.
