Overview

Federated Content Component Form - Content Reference is used to search for and select a file from a Federated Data Source.

The current Web Content Management user's credentials must have appropriate access privileges in IBM Information Integrator for Content to perform searches, select references, and view content to successfully create a Federated Content Component.

Select Reference Click this button to select a new Federated Content Reference. A dialog will open with the following fields and buttons:

Search Template:

If selected, a list of Search Templates from your Federated Data source is displayed. Select the desired Search Template.

Criteria:

Full Text Search:

If selected, users can perform a full-text search on full-text search enabled federated entities. Users then select a federated entity from the displayed list. They then enter the text to search for and click the "Search" button. A list of matching federated resources is then displayed. The most recent full-text searches are saved in the "Saved queries" pull-down.

When performing searches for Federated Content Manager content using the CLOB and BLOB attributes of Content Manager documents, these attributes will not be shown in the WCM Authoring Portlet. CLOB attributes can be displayed on a rendered page using the scope=attribute in the Federated Content Component and Federated Content Library Component tags.

Content Reference Displays the first federated attribute value that was searched on.
Clear Reference Removes the currently selected Federated Content from this Component.
Lock / Unlock Version By default, Federated Content Components are "locked".

The Federated Content Component can then be unlocked by clicking Unlock VIf Unlocked, each time the Federated Content Component is rendered, the current version is retrieved form the Federated Data Source.

Clicking the Lock Vbutton will lock the Federated Content Component to the current version. If the Federated Data Source is updated, the Federated Data source will not use the updated version, but will used the "locked" version.

This does not refer to the WCM VControl feature, but to the VControl feature of the Federated Data Source.

Refresh V Updates the locked Federated Content reference to the latest version stored in the Federated Data Source. The status of the Federated Content Component is still considered as locked.

This does not refer to the WCM VControl feature, but to the VControl feature of the Federated Data Source.

When viewing a Federated Content Component in a Web Page, or previewing a Federated Data source from within the Federated Content Component Form, the Username and Password entered in the Federated Content Component Form are attempted first. If the federated reference cannot be accessed, the Default Username and Password specified in the FederatedConnector section of connect.cfg are used. If the federated reference still cannot be accessed, the current WCM User's credentials are attempted.

If Federated Content cannot be accessed, a blank line will be inserted into rendered content in place of the Federated Content.

Some characters, such as % (the default wildcard character) do not work when searching on certain attribute types.
